Alex Kampfner is an English/German multilingual theatre director.  She trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

​She was shortlisted for the Genesis Future Directors Award and longlisted for the JMK Award in 2023.

She is currently assisting Blanche McIntyre at the Hampstead Theatre for Apex Predator.

Theatre work as Assistant Director includes Visit from an Unknown Woman (Hampstead Theatre); Boys on the Verge of Tears (Soho) and Disruption (Park Theatre).

Work as a Director includes About Money(Summerhall/Theatre503); Women With Wide Eyes (Theatre Deli Sheffield as part of Migration Matters Festival); Celine(Rich Mix as part of Voila Europe Festival); Guerrillera(Greenwich Theatre - nominated for the LET Awards); ICARUS (HMP Brixton); Further Than a Dream and Romeo and Juliet (both El Buen Pastor Prison in Colombia, selected as part of III National Penitentiary Theatre Festival supported by Acción Interna). 

She is a script reader for the Finbrough Theatre and the Painkiller Prize. 

​She has worked internationally, directing pieces in Colombia, Chile, France as well as throughout the UK. A facilitator, she has led workshops in prisons, women’s refuges and with young people.
